Project description
Objectives

The objectives of this project are to increase young people’s awareness and knowledge on important issues that are at stake in Europe at the moment, and to equip them with tools and skills to act upon their knowledge. We want to increase their sense of responsibility and encourage the young Europeans to be active citizens who take part in decision making that concerns their future. In this project young people meet and work together to find solutions on shared challenges. The objective is to develop intercultural knowledge and solidarity, encourage social inclusion and transnational cooperation.

Aims

The project aims to teach and develop teachers' and students' language skills, entrepreneurship and innovation skills and digital skills. In addition we place learning outcome high and each part of the project will give the students subject knowledge on a high level in the fields of sustainable use of energy and resources, integration and social inclusion, teach them about their national and European heritage and how to share, evolve and protect heritage.

Teachers

Teacher training and four student meetings will result in a range of concrete products. Some of the larger ones will be: - a webpage to distribute ideas and knowledge - a brochure with actual entrepreneurship and business plans showing how young people can both be recipients and decision makers in transferring cultural heritage. - proposals to the European Parliament, local governments and households on how to switch to renewable energy sources. - a plan for an integrational meeting point in the local community - Informative posters and leaflets on water saving actions The participating individuals and the schools as organisations will benefit from the development and improvement of teaching methodology and material. In addition, students, teachers, but also parents will experience different European cultures, cities, schools and education systems during the entire project, particularly during the project meetings and transnational learning activities, which will prove to be an invaluable experience. The working methods and also the final product of each project meeting will ask students and teachers to disseminate the outcome to local community and local authorities. We therefore think that this project will reach its goal of raising young peoples’ intercultural awareness and their ability to participate in democratic decision making processes locally and in Europe. We also believe that by working together in cross cultural groups, finding solutions together, the project will encourage social inclusion and cultural understanding. Moreover the content of each students' meeting is designed to develop the students skills and broaden their knowledge on the specific subjects.

Students

Students will collect data, they will meet scientists and experts in various fields. Moreover they will visit a variety of arenas where they can learn. They will meet students from different countries and be able to compare their own situation with others’. They will be in contact with local authorities and from personal experience learn how to take an active part in decision making processes. They will develop entrepreneurial skills, ICT-skills, language skills and communication skills. In addition students will develop cross cultural knowledge and understanding that will be valuable to Europe in the coming years, dealing with water management, migration and integration, transition of cultural heritage in a multicultural environment, and also innovation and implementation of the use of sustainable energy.
